Forest Meadow Junior High Principal Charles Bruner hosted a TAKS test pep rally this week, with 20 Charger teachers dancing and singing to get the kids pumped up to give their best effort to the test. You can see the teachers’ rendition of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” here, sung instead as “All the TAKS Takers.” They also sang “I Got a Feeling” by the Black-Eyed Peas adding, “that you’re gonna pass the TAKS test.” Lyrics were rewritten and sung by FMJH’s own Kristy Cage, Lathera Addison and Carisa Niemeyer.

Local school reputations, teacher advancement, student promotion and nearby home property values depend on test scores and the label given to each school, ranging from Aacademically Unacceptable to Acceptable to Recognized to Exemplary. Bruner’s expectation, he told teachers and students at the pep rally, is that Charger students can and will earn Exemplary status this year. Test results will be available in a few weeks.
