Blake Woodson is a junior first baseman for Lake Highlands. Woodson leads the team in almost every offensive category and has the rare opportunity to win the area Triple Crown by leading Class 5A hitters in batting average, home runs and RBIs. Woodson’s domination at the plate has been one of the biggest stories of the baseball season.
Q: How did you feel after your three home-run performance against Laredo Cigarroa in the Elks Lodge tournament?
A: I felt confident in my swing again. I haven’t felt that way in a long time.
Q: Do you plan to play baseball in college?
A: Well yes, that is my goal right now.
Q: You are one of the top hitters in the area. Would you rather end the season as the leader in batting average, home runs or RBIs?
A: It would be nice to have the most home runs, but I would like to have the highest average, so hopefully I can be first-team All Area.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
A: I usually hang out with my girlfriend and play C.O.D. (Call of Duty).
Q: What is your favorite video game?
A: FIFA 2010 or Call of Duty.
Q: What is your favorite class at Lake Highlands?
A: Probably athletics, because I love to stay active and play baseball.
Q: What is your favorite professional sports team?
A: The Dallas Cowboys, because there is always something to talk about when you bring them up.
