With a large crowd of Wildcat fans watching, the LHHS boys’ soccer team lost a heartbreaker last night in the third round of soccer playoffs. The Cats were shut only for only their third time all season, denied by Naaman Forest goalkeepers Colin Marusak, who played like a house afire. With a season average of two goals scored per game, the Cats hit an offensive wall and just couldn’t put one in the net before time ran out.

If you’re keeping March Madness-style brackets, you’re likely in chaos this morning. Anticipated state contenders Flower Mound Marcus and Plano Senior High were knocked out last night as well. The soccer playing careers of most of the seniors are now over, but the team will begin again soon, training with seven returning starters and a strong crop of JV players ready to move up. For building blocks, they’ll use this year’s 18-5-1 record, the 11-game win streak, and the busting of a 4-year drought in playoff wins. Go Cats.
