Berkner took an early, 1-0, lead on a wild pitch in the second inning. Catcher R.J. Burns helped the Wildcats’ cause by hanging on to the ball after a collision at home plate in the fourth inning.

Judson Luther started the fifth inning for LH with a double, and then scored on a single from Ben Wolf. The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead later in the inning on a Cameron Bodell single.

Berkner tied the game, 2-2, with two outs in the seventh inning on an errant Wildcat throw. Although LH loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom half of the inning, the Cats were unable to score and the game was pushed to extra innings.

Berkner took the lead with an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning, then shut down the LH offense to win the game.

Luther pitched eight strong innings for the Wildcats, giving up nine hits.

The Cats’ next game is Friday at Richardson with the JV playing at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m.
