If you like baseball, Saturday was the day for you to follow the Lake Highlands Wildcats. Three games in one day, a schedule only a seamhead could love.

LH started the day at 10 a.m. with a 6-5 win over Tyler Lee. Dylan Porter threw a complete game.

Then the Cats traveled to Richardson for a 1:30 p.m. contest. LH pounded the Eagles, 20-0, but you can bet Richardson will be a lot tougher to beat when the teams meet again in district play March 26.

The Cats ended the day with a 5 p.m. contest against Bishop Lynch, which ended LH’s win streak, 7-4.

LH coach Jay Higgins said junior Blake Woodson had four HRs and 15 RBIs during the tournament. Those are MVP numbers.

Higgins said no tournament champion was declared, since it was a round-robin format and not everyone played the same number of games, but LH, Tyler Lee and Lovejoy finished with the best records.

Next the Cats re-enter District 9-5A play with a game at Sunset at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, then the big game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington against Rockwall-Heath at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
