AUSTIN – The Wildcats will bring back two fourth-place medals and a state champion from the UIL state wrestling tournament.
Isaac Grieder won the 160-pound state championship by beating Marc Backus from Canyon Randall, 6-4. After a two-year hiatus, LH has another state champion.
Isaac Kinsella claimed fourth place at 135 pounds after losing a tough match to Peter Huang of Arlington Martin, 5-3. Kinsella was hampered by shoulder and elbow injuries in his final match.
In the 215-pound third place match, LH’s Ebrima Njie lost a nail-biter to Teddy Johnson of Coppell. Njie was taken down with one second left in the match, which led to his 3-1 defeat.
