The cold mist and wet field conditions weren’t the only things that made the Wildcats’ win against Berkner messy. In a game the Cats were expected to easily win, LH scored first on a free kick by Young Swede. A second goal, tapped in by Luke Stringer after a shot deflected off the keeper’s chest, was called back as offside. The Cats went into halftime feeling robbed.

The Rams started the second half on fire, with crisp passes and renewed energy. When they put the ball in the net after a corner kick, momentum shifted and the Cats were scrambling. Regulation play ended in a 1-1 tie and the shootout began.
