Lake Highlands  clinched a playoff berth by beating Molina, 75-63, Wednesday night at Ellis Davis Field House. The score was far too close for comfort for the Wildcats, who needed a win to wrap up the fourth seed in District 9-5A.

LH trailed after the first quarter, but a run of 12 straight points in the second quarter propelled the Cats to a 10-point halftime lead.

The Jaguar crowd was quiet during the first three quarters, but became very vocal after Molina cut the Wildcat lead to, 64-60, with just over three minutes left. A timely 3-pointer from Ricky Zorn and many late Wildcat free throws helped seal the game for LH.

Zorn led the team with 26 points and James Preston followed with 15. Preston also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Lake Highlands will play its first round playoff game next Tuesday against Garland Lakeview Centennial at Plano East Senior High.
