Lake Highlands kept pace in the District 9-5A playoff race by defeating WT White, 70-65, Tuesday night at Loos Field House. However, the Wildcats, currently in fifth place, could not make up any ground. LH remains a game behind Richardson, who defeated Molina on Tuesday, and Skyline, who beat Creekview.

The game was close all night as neither team could pull away from the other.

A major scare came to the Wildcats in the middle of the second quarter when Aaron Mazibuko had to be helped to the locker room after injuring his leg. Mazibuko returned to the court just before halftime, but played limited minutes in the second half.

Despite his injury, Mazibuko led the team with seven rebounds and Trey Bingham scored 20 points for LH.

Lake Highlands’ next game is against Creekview on Friday (6 p.m. JV, 7:30 varsity) at home.
