The Lake Highlands Varsity wrestling team dominated the District 18 Championship meet held Saturday at Berkner.  This is the third district title in a row and the 16th in the last 17 years for LH wrestling.

Senior Isaac Grieder and sophomore Nathan Schulman (pictured) both received Outstanding Wrestler awards for the tournament.

The team scored 254 points and completely overwhelmed the rest of the district.  Overall the wrestlers won 10 individual titles out of the 15 weight classes.  Individual Champions were seniors Isaac Kinsella, Robbie Penny, Colman Vigil, Isaac Grieder, Alfred Ngang, Brent Bono and Ebrima Njie and juniors DD Fields and Reid Zambardino and sophomore Nathan Schulman.  Placing second was senior Travon Starks. 

Placing third were senior John Powers and sophomore Bubba Smitham. In all, LH qualified 11 wrestlers for the Region 3 tournament, this Friday and Saturday at Allen.

The Wildcats outscored second-place Wylie by 94 points, followed by Pearce in third, Highland Park fourth, Berkner fifth, Jesuit sixth and Richardson seventh.

The JV wrestlers also dominated the district competition with six first places, six second places and five third places.  Taking first were juniors David Davis and Braden Fair and sophomores Jorge Vargas, Biak Thang, Henry Offord and Ryan Branch.  Placing second were sophomores Adam Bosch and Parker Starr and freshmen Lazaro Azuara, D’Andre Neroes, Dylan Domizio and Rodger Williams.  Placing third were sophomores Adyson Gorischek, Derek Fritz and Trace Mears and freshmen Frank Ruggerberg and Blake Lueder and placing 4th was freshman Dandre Brumfield.
