I just got the first reaction from LH athletic coordinator/head football coach Scott Smith on the realignment.

"Obviously we’re excited about it," Smith said. "We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Dallas ISD schools. We’ve always had a lot of respect for [Jesuit coach] Bob Wunderlick and look forward to working with him."

LH has shared a district with Jesuit in the past and had some memorable contests. Jesuit being with the RISD and DISD teams makes sense geographically, plus it makes for a good rivalry. Several LH kids attend Jesuit and, as one of Dallas’ oldest private schools, there’s a lot of history there.

Smith said the Wildcats’ non-district football opponents will remain the same for the next two years: Mesquite, Mesquite Horn and Garland. The home-and-away designations have not been decided, Smith said.

Garland, interestingly, now has an interloper in its district. The Garland ISD has had a self-contained district for several years but now must make room at its district meetings for McKinney Boyd.
