If you’re spring cleaning this week clearing off bookshelves, you can make a valuable contribution to the LHHS PTA and students in Lake Highlands. The PTA is collecting books for the annual RISD Used Book Fair to be held February 11-14. The gently used books will sold at Valley View Mall in the center court during mall hours. Proceeds will provide college scholarships to RISD seniors and support programs of the PTA.

You’ll find thousands of books on all subjects – from romance to religion, from classics to cookbooks, from foreign languages to fiction, from biographies to bestsellers. They also sell collectible books, autographed copies and first editions, along with CDs and DVDs. Most paperbacks sell for a quarter, and most items at the fair are priced under $2.

You may drop your books off to volunteers in the front foyer of LHHS today and Wednesday before lunch or anytime Thursday. If you have a school-aged student, his/her school is likely giving rewards for book donations, so check with them for details.

You’re also invited to make a cash donation to help pay for tables, setup and other book fair expenses, and you are welcome to work a shift sorting, bagging and delivering books. Email LHHS mom Nora Lew to volunteer or give.
