LH gave itself a huge boost in the District 9-5A playoff race with a 67-64 road win over Skyline in boys basketball Tuesday.

It was a hard-fought win. LH led 15-12 after one quarter, then trailed 39-38 at halftime. The Cats surged ahead to take a 57-55 lead into the fourth quarter, then made the plays down the stretch to hang on for the win.

Trey Bingham led LH with 16 points, followed by Tevin Elmore with 15, Ricky Zorn with 12 and Sean McCary with 8.

The victory keeps LH in a three-way tie with Skyline and Richardson in 9-5A at 5-3, only a game behind second-place Carrollton Creekview. Originally, Skyline was thought to be a contender for the district title along with first-place Berkner but the Raiders have fallen into the pack of teams fighting for one of four playoff spots. With six games left on the district schedule, any win over another playoff contender is monumental.

In girls action, the Lady Wildcats couldn’t catch a break against state-ranked Skyline and fell, 83-42.
