Exchange Club Lake Highlands members are collecting used crutches, walkers, boots, wheel chairs (that fold flat) for distribution to Haiti victims, and they are calling on the entire community for help.

Terri and Rick Hawkins wrote in an e-mail this morning that they hope to collect at least 1000 of these items to ship to Haiti.

“Access to such things as crutches, which can provide much-needed mobility, may be the key to survival for many injured victims over the next weeks and months," Hawkins wrote. “Surely many of us have used crutches in our attics right now that we can part with.”

Items may be delivered to the Exchange Club meeting Friday at 7 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 10110 Shoreview Dr., or to the Hawkins at 9026 Meadowknoll Drive in Lake Highlands.
