Friday’s game against W.T. White at Loos Fieldhouse will be the end of the first half of District 9-5A race for the LH girls basketball team. The Lady Wildcats are currently 3-3 in district play and tied for fourth place (and the final playoff spot) with Berkner. Skyline (6-0), Richardson (5-1) and Creekview (4-2) are ahead of LH and Berkner.

"We let Richardson and Berkner beat us this first round and we shouldn’t have, and we completely beat ourselves with turnovers and poor decision making," LH coach Holly Mulligan said. "I think we will correct these mistakes and do well in the second round.  We have Creekview, Berkner, and Skyline at home, so that is definitely a positive."

Tierra Scott and Hannah Wedding have led LH offensively during district play. The team got a break from playing Tuesday because of final exams. The team practiced Monday but was off Tuesday and Wednesday.

"I actually enjoyed the break this week for our team," Mulligan said. "We needed it as a team to refresh and rejuvenate ourselves. With as many injuries as we’ve had this year and other factors, it was good for us and couldn’t have come at a better time. Usually I do not like the break, but we needed it this year. It was perfect timing."
