Early this week I noticed a new business called JBF opened on Garland Road near the Suffer City tattoo shop and Squaresville studio. Turns out it is a fitness training facility run by neighborhood resident Justin Bowden who once worked as a personal trainer at the Casa Linda 24 hour fitness. He plans to help his clients develop personal curriculums based on their goals — weight loss, muscle building, improved performance in sports such as running, cycling, football, etc. Those types of memberships will run anywhere from $75-$200 per month. It’s a little more expensive than training at a gym, but worth it, Boden says.
“I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I’ve learned a lot. I’ve seen the inconvenience and poor service that people sometimes endure with personal training at a gym. I also have seen people who work out on their own who could be using time much more efficiently,” he says.
At JBF (Justin Bowden Fitness), he plans to put the years of experience to work. Bowden, who plans to hire a couple additional trainers soon, will also offer boot camps and rehabilitative exercise at the 2,300 square-foot facility. If you’re interested, he says he’s happy to let you try out a free session. Just mention the Advocate. (Just kidding — you don’t really have to do that). I’ll be going to check it out for myself this weekend.
