Since Jan. 1, 30 vehicles have been burglarized at NorthPark Center, making the neighborhood shopping mall number 10 on the city’s list of the most dangerous places to park your car, according to a WFAA-TV story. Coming in at number 6 on the list is the Best Buy/Golf Galaxy shopping center (9100 N. Central) just north of Park Lane on Central Expressway, and the 24-Hour Fitness/Studio Movie Grill center at the northeast corner of Royal Lane and Central (11100 N. Central) was number 7; both locations recorded 32 burglaries. The top two places to have your vehicle burglarized are Flying J Travel Plazas on Bonnie View Road and at 34100 LBJ Freeway; the number of semi-trucks packed with electronic equipment was cited as the reason.

Something to think about: This is a big city, and considering the thousands and thousands of cars parked at NorthPark every day, and with rent-a-cops virtually everywhere, does 30 burglaries over the course of 11 and one-half months really constitute an epidemic? Maybe if one of the 30 cars had been mine, I might have a different attitude, but still…
