A state berth was not in the cards for the Lake Highlands cross country teams Saturday at the 5A Region II meet at Arlington’s Vandergriff Park.
LH junior Meron Fessahaie, the District 9-5A champion, finished 29th overall in a field dominated by strong Houston-area programs.
LH finished 19th in the boys teams standings, two spots below Skyline which LH beat to win the 9-5A title.
LH finished 20th in the girls team standings. Senior Grace Devaney was LH’s top performer, finishing 100th overall in a similarly loaded field.
