The drumline of the Lake Highlands Marching Band is readying for the Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition Saturday, so they’ll give the community a sneak peek of their show tonight, Thursday, at 7 pm in The Boneyard.

“It will be an extremely entertaining 30 minutes,” says Julie Brooks, who admits to being a “drumline groupie” in addition to being the mom of Jordan, 3rd year section leader. You’ll remember that Jordan traveled around the country competing with the Blue Knights, perfecting his craft playing the quads (set of four drums).

“This special, onetime, end of season performance is the LH Drumline’s opportunity to showcase for our community the result of tireless dedication from our students to make this ensemble outstanding,” says Jimmy LaBrecque, director of the drumline. “We will perform our full competition show along with performances by three outstanding soloists, Greyson Morgan, Wesley Shepard, and Jordan Brooks, who are also competing in the Solo Division. You won’t be disappointed.”

After Thursday night’s show, the drumline will perform at Friday’s pep rally at LHHS. “It will be a good ole fashioned Smackdown!” says Julie. “The snares versus the quads versus the basses. Anything you can do, I can do better. The student body should love it!”

The Wildcat band is scheduled to go on at about 2 pm Saturday in Max Goldsmith Stadium at Lewisville High School. Julie doesn’t promise that the drumline will take first place, but she does say this – “all will leave with smiles on their faces and extra rhythm in their steps.”
