The Richardson ISD has hired a search firm which will host several meetings to gather input on qualifications for a new superintendent. Dr. Jenny Preston of Horn, Smith, Wood & Preston will lead the brainstorming sessions, which are not likely to focus on individual candidates but instead on the attributes and philosophies needed by the RISD’s next leader. Dr. David Simmons left the spot vacant when he resigned in August, and trustees indicated a preference for a superintendent who focuses on SAT scores more and TAKS scores less.

RISD teachers and support staff will have their own meetings, and the larger LH community is invited to participate in the discussion at the Lake Highlands High School library on October 22 at 7 pm. With the Varsity Revue homecoming talent show going on that night in the LHHS auditorium, you’re unlikely to see many high school parents there, but Advocate staff will be covering the meetings and will share what we hear here on the blog.
