Lake Highlands’ Meron Fessahaie overcame extremely muddy conditions Saturday to take second place in Mesquite Poteet’s Run the Farm cross country meet at Samuell Farm.

Fessahaie finished in 16:05, just three seconds behind winner Tyler Chappell of Cleburne.

LH’s Jordan Gerber was 12th in 17:03. The LH boys finished 10th overall.

The LH girls were a solid 7th place overall. Freshman Sara Shaw led the way with 18th place in 14:29. Michal Ann Starr and Jayme MacDonald were 27th and 28th, respectively, both finishing in 15:00.

The Poteet meet was final regular season meet of the season. Time trials will be conducted on the LH track Friday morning, then the team will take the rest of the weekend off to prepare for the District 9-5A meet Oct. 30 at Norbuck Park.
