Gary Erickson is a senior defensive end for the Lake Highlands football team. Erickson has quickly become a vocal leader for the team and recently had a run-in with one of Dallas’ biggest celebrities.

Q: I heard you had a celebrity encounter this summer. Tell me about it.
A: Well I was at the ticket counter at the Regal Cinema movie theatre and saw Jerry Jones waiting in line to buy a pretzel for his wife. When he was done, I told him I was a big Cowboys fan and I got him to take a picture with me. He was wearing a Cowboys Stadium polo shirt and a woman asked if he worked there. He responded by laughing and saying, "I own the stadium," and just walked away.

Q: Did the atmosphere at the Boneyard and the excitement surrounding the game versus Berkner contribute at all to the victory?
A:  Definitely. The crowd got our defense really hyped up and helped us come through in the second half.

Q: Are there any interesting facts about yourself that not many people would know?
A: I can squat 450 pounds, which is a lot for someone my size (5-7, 195).

Q: Who is your favorite actor?
A: George Clooney, because I love "Ocean’s Eleven."

Q: What is your favorite subject at Lake Highlands?
A: Criminal Justice because I learned all about police and we got to take a field trip to a jail.

Q: Which team is your favorite to play against?
A: Well, out of this year’s opponents, I would have to say Sunset, because basically everybody on the team got to play and that was pretty cool because that rarely happens.

Q: Have you learned any beneficial life lessons through football?
A: I’ve learned that you can’t focus just on yourself, you need to focus more on the entire team.  One person doesn’t win a game, the whole team does.
