Congratulations to LHHS’ five newest National Merit Semifinalists – Tim Davis, Nathan Hogg, Matthew Keith, Shea Snider, and Luke Wingfield. In addition to being high-achieving students, each is a delightful kid with a great attitude, and each is involved in multiple student organizations on campus. The Richardson ISD had a total of 16 students from the Class of 2010 earn the designation.

Their journey to becoming semifinalists began late in their sophomore year when they excelled in taking the Preliminary SAT test. They now are members of an elite group of 16,000 students nationally who will compete for 8,200 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $36 million. Next, they’ll submit applications, teacher recommendations, and essays in hopes of making it to the Finalist level, and they’ll be evaluated based on leadership roles and community service. Scoring well on the SAT will be their final hurdle. Best of luck, guys!
