As most of you are aware a fundraiser was held for Officer Alex Garcia at the Northeast Patrol Division on August 27, 2009. Alex suffered a traumatic series of blood clots while working with the Dallas Police Department Explorer program in Colorado . Alex is a strong young man and is on the road to recovery. As of this writing the total amount of money exceeded $11,000.00 dollars. This is a phenomenal amount and exceeded many times what any of us expected. On behalf of myself, Alex and the entire Northeast family I want to sincerely thank everyone who stopped by, made a donation and had something to eat with us. A special word of thanks to those volunteers that pulled the event together as well as all the vendors who made donations. You know who you are! Since coming to Northeast I have been routinely awed by the concern and generosity of the community members for the police department. This event is yet another example of the amazing people we have in our community and our city.
