Lake Highlands Junior High is asking the community for help in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the school. The PTA is planning an evening of celebration September 21 in conjunction with Meet the Teacher Night, and they are seeking photos and memorabilia from the past fifty years to display. They’ll be sharing a slide show of old photos and a cake to celebrate the occasion, and former PTA presidents are invited to be special guests.
“It will be really great to honor those who came before us,” PTA president Vicki Taylor told me. “In the beginning, LHJH was a high school, and there is lots of history we want to share.”
They’ll also have a Silent Auction April 16 to raise funds to improve the courtyard and make it more appealing and usable by students, teachers, and visitors.
If you have photos and keepsakes to share, you mail bring them to the school at 10301 Walnut Hill Lane, email them to Vicki Taylor, or call PTA Historian Mary Kay Thomas at 214-342-0206.
