It’s always refreshing to talk hockey in July. It’s even better when the talk is about the Richardson Rampage, the local high school hockey team with players from Lake Highlands, Berkner, Richardson and Pearce.
Last season, Lake Highlands had five players skating for the Rampage: Seniors Michael Wren and David Gwinn, juniors J.P. Billingsley and Brad Moison and freshman Patrick Ford. The Rampage placed fifth out of 16 teams in their division last season.
Tryouts for the Richardson Youth Hockey Association are Aug. 15-16 at Ice Training Center, 522 Centennial Blvd. in Richardson. The tryouts are for any RISD student entering grades 8-12.
There’s a pre-season camp starting Aug. 1 for players needing to skate off the rust before tryouts begin. Details and registration are at www.richardsonhockey.org.
