Don’t expect to use a library, visit a swimming pool, check on a police report or go to class at a rec center. Most non-emergency city services are shuttered today, courtesy of the city’s austerity budget that calls for two furlough days this fiscal year. The next one will take place over Labor Day weekend.
Don’t expect, also, to easily find this information on the city Web site. It’s tucked away in the news release detailing the July 4 holiday closings.
The one good thing about today? We get practice for the next fiscal year, when these services will be closed regularly.
