Lake Highlands Choirs hosted an informal concert Friday night, inviting family and friends to catch a rare glimpse of the kids performing in their casual clothes instead of their official tuxedos and evening gowns. They sang a few of the songs that earned them a display case full of trophies this year, and they shared a slide presentation of photos from their performances, social events, and trip to Corpus Christi. They ended with their traditional The Lord Bless You and Keep You and not a dry eye in the house.

Before the show, the kids gathered for dinner and announced year-end awards. A Cappella’s Most Improved Musicians, as selected by choir directors Michael O’Hern and Terry Berrier, were: Carly Anthony, Megan Hancock, Patrick Thornton, Hannah Bloodworth, and Dean Wooldridge. Outstanding Musicians for the juniors were Carmen Burroughs and Tim Davis, and for the seniors were Alexandra Atalis and Blake Martin. Dedication Awards went to Rebecca Rutledge and Jillian Murphy. The choir students also voted on some awards, recognizing Lauren Barry as Outstanding Girl, Chris Hillman as Outstanding Boy, and Wilson Spreier as “Spirit of the Group.”
