We’re going to build cold frames on Saturday. We learned how to do it at the Texas Discovery Gardens quarterly seminar at Fair Park last week. It focused on soil and bed preparation and seed propagation. And we have pictures.

The eight of us from the Lake Highlands Community Garden who attended not only learned a lot more about proper soil preparation to promote much better crops, but were inspired to get the gang together and build some cold frames, which are basically mini-greenhouses. This is the time to do it — spring will be here soon enough.

Best yet, the next seminar put on by the Discovery Garen, sometime in March, will be held at the LHCG. I’ll certainly have to make sure Pairadise is nice and tidy. For sure, attendees will be asked to BYOFC – Bring your own folding chair!
