Organizers of the White Rock Marathon have a pretty spiffy (relatively) new web site up with all kids of cool tools —such as a blog and a participant networking page — and information to get participants pumped. Some changes from last year’s marathon:

The half-marathon course will change —half-marathoners won’t finish at Victory with the marathoners this time around. (This is a good thing. Last year I went out to see a friend run her first marathon. I watched her run into the finishing lanes, but at the ATT Plaza in front of the American Airlines Center where the race finishes, it was so crowded I never located her.)

Because of the massive participation, the race will begin in three different waves. Organizers expect 17,000 to register in 2008.

iPods are allowed this year—last year some runners were pretty disgruntled when they learned that the music players had been outlawed.

If you don’t run, be part of the event anyway —volunteer. (Why not? You won’t be able to get anywhere else with all those people running around the city’s streets.)
