Saturday was an exciting and busy day at the new Lake Highlands Community Garden. There was a whole lot of noise going on:

-The applause for the the good Scott’s folks who gave so many products (including a really cool sign) and the City folks who gave grants
-The buzz of the tillers churning soil
-The pounding of hammers driving nails
-The clunk of the wheel barrows rolling over rock
-The groans from those pushing the wheel barrows over rock
-The conversation among plot neighbors discussing what to plant and exchanging advice
-The sounds of children laughing while gathering materials for an improve Art Camp sculpture
-The voice of Councilman Jerry Allen saying there will be a second Community Garden
-The voice of organizer A.L. Nickerson saying, ‘It’s just a little garden’
-And at rare moments when everyone took a little break, the sound of the birds overhead
