The question becomes relevant because bank robberies appear to be up nationwide this year, reports USA Today. The story details increases in cities as diverse as L.A. (189 in 2008 vs. 156 at the same time last year) and Jackson, Miss. (eight this year vs. seven in all of 2007).

And our neighborhood has had its share over the past 12 months, from the high-profile Scarecrow Bandits to the fellow who stuck up the Compass Bank on Skillman last June.

The FBI, in fact, has posted photos of Dallas-area bank robbery suspects on its local site. The fellow illustrating this post is a suspect in several heists last summer, including one at the Guaranty Bank at Buckner and Garland road.
