Last week, while driving along Shoreview east of Audelia, I came upon a slew of cameras, craft services trucks and curious neighbors. Always willing to be a bit nosy, I got the dish from a crewmember.
Turns out they were shooting scenes for a movie in one of our Lake Highlands homes. "A Tribute to Big Red" is billed as a crazy, outlandish Borat-style mockumentary film about an epic competition. It stars former child star Gary Coleman (of Diff’rent Strokes and The Surreal Life fame.)
Here’s your chance at comedic immortality. They will be shooting scenes in Lakewood through June 20 in Dallas and need extras. Grab a couple of friends, make a couple of bucks, and help keep Dallas on filmmakers’ maps.
The scoop from the casting director:
“These are our extras needs next week 6/16-6/20. Please look carefully at dates and specs. You should be available all day. Please send an email to info@cast-o-matic.com with the dates you are interested in working, photo and phone number. These roles will be cast on a first come, first serve basis.
Tuesday, June 17, Lakewood Theater (this is the last scene of the movie) — $25 cash paid on set plus $10 per person if you bring two or more. No limit. Theatergoers — adult men and women. 17 and up. All ethnicities.
