Thirty-five years ago, John McClamrock was paralyzed during the opening kickoff of a Hillcrest High School football game. Following that accident, McClamrock never walked again and spent the rest of his life in his home in the neighborhood, watched over by his mother, who had only one wish: to live longer than her son. McCormack died in March, and his mother passed away in earlier this month. The Morning News’ Kevin Sherrington tells the story briefly and brilliantly in Sunday’s paper. It’s worth your time to read this one.
