A disappointed Lake Highlands parent this morning sent word used-book purveyor Journeyer Books (on Plano Road near Walnut Hill) is going out of business after 14 years. Journeyer patrons say it was THE PLACE to buy required reading materials for Lake Highlands High School students. Owner Nancy Jones confirmed the news, citing financial reasons. “The overhead is just too much,” she explained.
She’ll keep the store open until Feb. 25, or so, during which time she will further discount the store’s remaining inventory. Jones has relied on the LH high school staff to keep her abreast of assigned reading so she could stock low-priced literature for students. If school staffers cooperate, she hopes to continue to work with them despite the lack of a storefront. Jones said she’s going to greatly miss her loyal Lake Highlands customers and promises to keep us posted.
