Our second annual Photo Issue drew the attention of many amateur and professional photographers who live in our neighborhood. Some of the photos you’ll see here were taken by our neighbors; others were taken by members of our staff.
Not surprisingly, many of us are inspired by the beauty and wildlife of White Rock Lake. In fact – whether it’s a peaceful picture of the boathouse or one that says something about how we band together to keep the lake clean – many of the photos on these pages have some connection to the lake.
But perhaps nothing inspired those behind the lens more than a mid-February day when we received more than a light dusting of the cold white stuff. This year, pictures of snow outnumbered even pictures of people’s own children as the most popular photo subject.
We received dozens of entries, and choosing among them was difficult.
Hopefully, on these next few pages, we’ll see something that reminds us about why we live here: the history, the beauty, the distinctiveness, the community.
