Curbside Pickup

For residents with curbside pickup, place your blue bags outside filled with plastic, steel cans and aluminum cans. Newspaper, placed in paper grocery bags, gets stacked next to the blug bags.

All plastic bottles marked on the bottom with a number one or two are accepted, including milk jugs, soda bottles and water jugs. Bottles for other items like hair-care products, condiments and detergents also are accepted if they are marked with a number one or two. Please don’t include plastic motor oil bottles, even if they are the right number.

Metal cans and screw-on jar lids that attract magnets are accepted (not the cut lids from cans). Aluminum soda cans are okay, but not aluminum cat food cans.

If you don’t have curbside pickup, metal can be recycled at many local scrap dealers. Just check the Yellow Pages under recycling or scrap metal. You also can recycle plastic at Kroger Food Stores and the FINA Building, off Greenville one light south of Northwest Highway. If you know someone with curbside pickup, you can drop off your blue bags on their parkway. There is no limit to how many blue bags residents can recycle.

Igloos

The igloo program accepts glass and aluminum. The glass igloos are now marked Clear Glass and Color Glass or Brown Glass.

Only totally clear, colorless glass can go in the Clear Glass receptacles; if anything else is tossed in, it will contaminate the entire load.

Glass of any color can be placed in the igloos marked Color or Brown Glass, including brown, green, pale green (wine coolers, sparkling water) and dark blue.
