Attendees can receive free flu shots plus hearing, eye, and diabetes testing. Blood pressure, dental, cholesterol, hepatitis B and C screenings, mammograms, HIV tests and doctor consultations also will be available to the public.

Look for the DFR fire engine, which promises to be attended by the department’s mascot, Sparky the Fire Dog.

The Dallas Police Department’s manager of community affairs Shawn Williams says the DPD started the Asian American Unit in the DPD’s office of community affairs in 1996.

“For the last 14 years, the health and safety fair has allowed our department to continue to strengthen our relationship with the Asian community,”Williams says.
