Safer Dallas Better Dallas is a foundation that raises money for the Dallas Police Department. 7-Eleven donated $300,000 to Safer Dallas this week for crime fighting in two high-crime areas: Vickery Meadows and Ross-Bennett.

Those are two of the 27 Dallas neighborhoods the police have identified as crime hotspot, which represent 6 percent of the city but 36 percent of total crime. Safer Dallas is working to raise $3 million to buy crime-fighting equipment in those areas.

The department plans to purchase three T3 patrol vehicles, bait cars and neighborhood security cameras.

7-Eleven also announced a $40-million in-store crime-fighting initiative, installing security cameras and  digital recorders in stores nationwide. The cameras will allow police to remotely view security footage from 7-Eleven stores.
