With Todd Dodge officially out at The University of North Texas, Lake Highlands will have no worries about about losing its head coach.

When asked if he would consider pursuing the head coaching job for the Mean Green, Lake Highlands head coach Scott Smith gave a very definitive answer.

“Nope,” Smith said. “I’m very happy here at Lake Highlands.”

Dodge was hired in 2006 at UNT with high hopes that he could extend his high school success of winning 79 of his last 80 games at Southlake Carroll High with the Mean Green.

However, a 6-37 record at UNT and this season’s 1-6 mark was not impressive enough to keep Dodge with the program.

Unfortunately for Dodge, the Mean Green have lost 12 players to season ending injuries including the first and second string quarterbacks Nathan Tune and Derek Thompson.

Offensive coordinator Mike Canales will take over as interim coach for the Mean Green while UNT begins searching for Dodge’s replacement.
