Two alumnae of Zion Lutheran School,
both named Emily, starred in separate productions of “Beauty and the Beast” recently. Emily Hawkins, a junior at Lake Highlands High School, portrayed “Belle” in her school’s musical in November. Emily Young, who is a senior at Woodrow Wilson High School, portrayed “Belle” last month.

Lake Highlands resident Kelly Werther, a Lakehill Preparatory seventh-grader, recently participated in the Junior National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., which aims to introduce young people to American history and help them develop their own leadership skills. About 250 students from across the United States were invited to this year’s conference themed “Voices of Leadership: Reflecting on the past to create the future”.

 

Lake Highlands residents Jim and Dianne Gray are sponsoring a team in the 2010 VisionWalk, May 15 at QuickTrip Park in Grand Prairie. The Walk raises funds to help find cures for diseases such as macular degeneration, retentitis pigmentosa and Stargardt’s disease, which has affected both of the couple’s sons, who are Lake Highlands High School graduates. Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church, 8525 Audelia, is accepting registrations for its summer arts camp, “Captain Noah and the One and Only Zoo Cruise for Twos”.
