Highlander was founded in 1966 and serves 3-year-olds to sixth graders in a small, Christian environment. The school was founded by the late Dr. Betty Woodring but is now run by daughter Jill Reed, who – like several other teachers there – attended the school as children.

Shady’s specializes in burgers like “The Hood,” with white cheddar, chunky avocado and grilled jalapenos, and “New Pig on the Block,” topped with barbecued pork and a cheddar-stuffed onion ring. They also offer salads, tacos, wraps and more. You can view the full menu here.

Shady’s is at 9661 Audelia.
