A New York Times best-selling author visited the Hamilton Park Learning Center on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to share her path to education.
Tara Westover, author of “Educated,” was a guest of Educational First Steps, a North Texas nonprofit organization transforming existing daycare centers in at-risk neighborhoods into nationally accredited programs.
Westover’s book is about her upbringing with survivalist parents in rural Idaho, she was forbidden from going to school until she was 17 years old. Her life now revolves around education.
“I think everybody gets brought up with certain ideas and certain perspectives, and I think part of what it means to get an education is to get access to other points of view and then decide what you think,” Westover told CBS.
