Wallace Elementary’s Erica Hoyt has been named Richardson ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone presented the award to Hoyt in a surprise visit to Wallace on Friday.

Hoyt, who teaches third grade at Wallace, attended RISD schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Texas Tech and a master’s degree in Literacy and Language from UT-Arlington. She was chosen as one of the district’s STAR teachers in May, which put her in the running for top teacher in the district for K-6. She’s now eligible to win honors at the Region 10 level.

She has an MBA from SMU and is the proud recipient of the Exchange Club of LH's Unsung Hero Award and Councilman McGough's Blake Anderson Public Service Award. She received LHHS PTA's Extended Service Award, FMJH PTA's Charger Award and a Life Membership from the LHFC PTA. She has moderated candidate debates for Dallas Mayor, Dallas City Council and RISD Trustee races and taught seminars on garnering publicity for nonprofits. She completed training with Dallas Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation and Inside RISD, and she's a sustaining member of LH Women's League.
