The LHHS men’s soccer team defeated Mesquite Horn in pre-season play last night at The Boneyard, with sophomore Reagan Dunk scoring once in the first half and again in the second. This video clip shows junior Emmet Kumeh getting the drive started from his position as defender. In fact Kumeh made several exceptional stops to fuel offensive play, causing the Horn fan seated near me to holler, “Emmet, don’t you EVER get tired?!?!”
Apparently not.
“Getting this win was a great way to kick off the season,” said Luke Stringer, senior captain. “We think we have a strong team, and our new players made big contributions.” Freshman Jack Blanton and Swedish exchange student Jonathan Esselin, aka “Young Swede,” made their debut as Wildcats and participated in the win.
The Cats are scheduled to play next in the Jesuit Meinster tournament, facing North Mesquite at 4 pm on the Jesuit Prep School campus on Inwood Road.
