Jennifer Scarbrough at LHHS

Jennifer Scarbrough teaches English at Lake Highlands High, but back surgery and other health issues have kept her from working since May, and now she needs help. Medical bills and other expenses are piling up, and she recently stopped physical therapy due to the cost. Her friends have set up a Go Fund Me page to help get her back on her feet and into the classroom.

Scarbrough, featured in this 2011 Advocate article about LHHS alums who’d returned to campus as faculty, attended Lake Highlands Elementary, LHJH and LHHS before heading off to college. A former Lady Wildcat soccer coach, she played soccer at LHHS and at SMU, then graduated from UTD. She did a little newspaper writing before devoting herself to becoming a full time teacher.

Scarbrough has had support from current and former students and faculty, with folks stopping by to deliver meals and boost her spirits. If you’d like to help, you may donate here.
