Officer Bervin Smith shows kids around his police car

Dallas police already have brisket slow-cooking on the grill, readying for their “We Are In This Together” BBQ Fundraiser tomorrow/Friday at the Northeast Division. The event is a fundraiser for the family of Rogelio Santander, for Crystal Almeida and for Scott Painter. Santander was killed during the recent Home Depot shooting while Almeida and Painter are recovering from gunshot wounds to their face. Santander and Almeida were DPD officers, and Painter was a Loss Prevention Officer for Home Depot.
