Lucy White with LHHS Highlandette Director Sarah Anderson

Lake Highlands High 2017 graduate Lucy White has earned a spot on the highly-regarded Kilgore College Rangerettes dance and drill team. White, who served as a Highlandette officer while at LHHS, learned Friday she is one of 36 freshmen and 36 sophomores to make up the 2017-18 line.

White participated in a week-long audition process with 88 other “hopefuls” this week on the Kilgore campus, learning dances, meeting future teammates and showing her skills. White is the only freshman chosen from Dallas, but she’ll have teammates from Plano, McKinney, Rockwall and all over Texas.

The Rangerettes were founded in 1940 by the late – and legendary – Gussie Nell Davis, who envisioned the new concept of dance/drill teams moving in unison. Among dozens of performances worldwide, the Rangerettes will make their 67th appearance in the Cotton Bowl Classic Dec. 29th in Arlington.

Congratulations, Lucy!
