Hale tees off at 3:10 p.m., with his four teammates following soon after. The Sooners face the Oregon Ducks, defending champs.

When Hale signed his letter of intent to play at OU, Wildcat then-coach Chris Cole was effusive in his praise.

“He’s phenomenal to watch,” said Cole. “He’s one of the greatest players I’ve seen.”

Lance Patterson, Director of Golf at Dallas Athletic Club, agreed.

“When he was younger, he had a great short game but he wasn’t very big. Then all of a sudden he grew, and he hit the ball ten thousand miles and he started beating the heck out of people.”
