LHJWL volunteers
Participants in Saturday’s 13th annual Run the Highlands 5K said conditions were perfect. Overcast skies and a stiff breeze kept entrants cool, a seemingly endless stream of Lake Highlands Junior Women’s Leaguers in black t-shirts got them checked in and ready to go in a flash and, at most corners along the neighborhood route, teams of volunteers cheered them along with posters and encouragement.
You can see my photos of the day here.
Proceeds from the race will be used to fund the new All Abilities Playground at Flagpole Hill. A similar playground accessible by children with special needs and children with limited-mobility parents recently opened in Plano to rave reviews.
If you didn’t run the race but are inspired to support the Junior Women’s League and the playground, you aren’t too late. They will gratefully receive your donation online here.
